Ohio Bicentennial Barn postcard

Ohio Bicentennial Barn postcard

I took this photo of one of the Ohio Bicentennial Barns in 2007. I then brought it into Photoshop, put a lomography effect on it and then added a texture over the whole thing. I believe the texture was just parchment paper or something. Nothing specific. Just enough to make it look aged.

If anyone is interested in how to do the lomography effect, let me know. I’ll write it out for you. It’s super easy.

I really like this effect… I always thought it was a filter that you could buy, but after doing some research on the effect, I would like to know how to do it!

    Thanks!!

Hi Rachael. Somehow, I just today, March 18, 2010, saw your comment on my photo. Sorry for such a long delay in getting back with you.

Unfortunately, I can’t find the photoshop file of this image on my computer so I can’t tell you exactly how I arrived at what you see. I can tell you, though, that I probably used either a lomography or a pseudo HDR action on the original image to get the coloring you see. You can download those actions from here: http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2008/10/20/the-ultimate-collection-of-useful-photoshop-actions/

Then added a new texture layer over it. I probably set the textures layer to Overlay and maybe adjusted the opacity of that layer a little bit. I’m not sure if this will be helpful at all. But my best advice is to just play around until you come up with something that you like. Good luck.
